Meter Reading

We have five meter readers in the Utility, and they logged 144,600 miles, with over 198,000 meter reads, as well as changed out over 2,000 old meters in fiscal year 2004.  Every month one of Mission Valley Power's friendly Meter Readers will read your meter, in all types of weather conditions.  The reads are entered electronically through a meter reading device, which the billing department can then use to download to our billing software to prepare your monthly billing statements.

We are in the process of installing an AMR (Automated Meter Reading) System.  The system will provide MVP with a more comprehesive look at the usage requirements, and peak times of usage.  We will also be able to give the consumer a daily usage report, upon request.  A five year plan has been developed for the completion of the project.

Where is my meter number?

The area highlighted in green is where you will find you meter number.  The number consists of 4, 5, or 6 digits, and is located on a silver plate.  The new AMR meters will have the letter "T" at the beginning of the meter number.  The long series of numbers is the serial number for that particular meter.  We only need the smaller number to provide assists to you.
