If more than one meter is required by the customer’s installation, or for the customer’s convenience, a separate billing for each meter is required. The term of contract for new services shall not be less than five (5) consecutive years.
A discount may be allowed if the customer takes delivery at primary distribution or transmission voltage at a location with adequate and suitable facilities for delivery.
1. Discount
A. A five percent (5%) discount will be allowed and applied after the monthly bill has been computed:
1) If the customer takes delivery at the primary voltage of the
distribution or transmission system and at a location where adequate and suitable facilities for such delivery are available and,
2) If the customer furnishes, installs, operates and maintains the substation or substations with step-down transformers,
protective equipment and all other facilities (except metering equipment) needed by the customer in distributing and utilizing the delivered power and energy.
2.
Billing
Demand
The billing demand for a month shall be actual demand as corrected for power factor adjustment for that month. The actual demand for any month shall be average amount of power used during that period of fifteen (15) consecutive minutes when such average is the greatest for the month as determined by suitable meters, or if meters are unavailable, the actual demand shall be connected load or such portion of the connected load as MVP may determine to be appropriate, based on available information as to the customer’s use of connected lights and appliances, or from check metering for each month by one percent (1%) or major fraction thereof by which the lagging power factor is less than ninety-five percent (95%).
3.
Loads
Over 250 aKW
Electric loads over 250 aKW (average
kilowatts) requires a negotiated rate. (aKW = kwh (kilowatt hours) for the year
divided by 8760 hrs) Example: 1,127,360 kwh used over 12 months divided by 8760
hrs = 128.69 aKW. The General Manager
and MVP Utility Board will determine the final negotiated rate.
Basic Charge: $127.50/month with or without meter
Demand Rate: $5.00/kW of billing demand
Energy Charge: $0.03295/kWh
This classification is available to three-phase electric service for all purposes that exceed 3,000 kW per month. The term of contract for new services shall not be less than five (5) consecutive years.
A discount may be allowed if the customer takes delivery at primary distribution or transmission voltage at a location with adequate and suitable facilities for delivery. The Utility will determine what qualifies for discounts.
1. Discount
A. A five percent (5%) discount will be allowed and applied after the monthly
bill has been computed:
1) If the customer takes delivery at the primary voltage of the distribution
or transmission system and at a location where adequate and suitable facilities for such delivery are available and,
2) If the customer furnishes, installs, operates and maintains the
substation or substations with step-down transformers, protective equipment and all other facilities, (except metering equipment) needed by the customer in distributing and utilizing the delivered power and energy.
2. Billing Demand
The billing demand for a month shall be the actual demand as corrected for power factor adjustment for that month. The actual demand for any month shall be the average amount of power used during that period of fifteen (15) consecutive minutes when such average is the greatest for the month as determined by suitable meters, or if meters are unavailable, the actual demand shall be connected load or such portion of the connected load as MVP may determine to be appropriate, based on available information as to the customer’s use of connected lights and appliances, or from check metering. An adjustment for average power factor will be made by increasing the actual demand for each month by one percent (1%) for each one percent (1%) or major fraction thereof by which the lagging power factor is less than ninety-five percent (95%).

Horsepower Charge: $11.90/HP with or without meter
Energy charge: $0.03746/kWh
Minimum Seasonal Charge: $162.00 or $6.85/HP, whichever is greater
This classification is available to customers with single or three-phase services used exclusively for irrigation pump motors and/or electric drive systems during the irrigation season (April 15 through October 15). The term of contract for new services shall not be less than five (5) consecutive years. (See page 2 for more information)
1. Customers guarantee payment of the annual horsepower charges for at least the first
five (5) consecutive irrigation seasons when installing new services, including
upgrading existing services, and when establishing new or additional pump locations.
2. The annual charge shall be due and payable every year whether the pump is used or
not, until the customer cancels their irrigation contract in writing and signs a pump
abandonment form. Payment of the annual horsepower charge will be required by
March 15th of each year. Those who require a special time of connection or who pay
after March 15th (except new pump installations) will be required to pay an additional
fee in accordance with Mission Valley Power’s Service Fees Summary.
3. At the close of the irrigation season, the meter will be read and the service may be
disconnected at the transformer. The total seasonal energy use will be computed and
the bill is due and payable within twenty-two (22) calendar days after the date of
issue.
4. Irrigation Season after October 15th – Customers may request, in writing, no later than
October 1, that their irrigation pump service be left on after the regular pumping
season. If a request is received after October 1st and the pumps were disconnected, a
$100.00 reconnect fee is required before re-energizing.
a. All requests will be reviewed by MVP’s Operations Department to determine
if the existing metering service meets the appropriate wiring and voltage
requirements for usage other than irrigation.
b. Should the request to keep a pump service energized during the off-season be
accepted, and it is determined the anticipated load is less than 25kW; the
General Service Without Demand Rate will apply. If the anticipated load is
determined to be over 25kW, the General Service With Demand Rate will
apply and a demand meter will be installed.
5. Irrigation accounts disconnected for non-payment require full payment for any
outstanding bills, the estimated energy charge for the coming season, the annual
horsepower charge, and the connect fee prior to re-energizing the service.
6. If a customer does not use their pump during the season, the minimum seasonal charge
shall be assessed ($162.00 or $6.85/HP, whichever is greater). This anticipates that
the horsepower charge was billed and paid by the due date. The customer may receive
a partial credit in the fall if the fall meter reading confirms no electrical usage for the
season.
7. An adjustment for power factor will be made by increasing the seasonal charges for
the kilowatt-hours by one percent (1%) or major fraction thereof by which the lagging
power factor is less than ninety-five (95%).
